Sven B. Schreiber Hey, "The Arches" are back! Finally, after almost two long... er... weeks! Their new 16-minute mini album, which can be regarded as a conceptual epic in eight movements, immediately won my heart, and in my opinion, it's their best so far. This time, the typical crunchy guitars don't have much work. Instead, clean guitars, keyboards, and strings have taken over the main duties. The music visits a broad range of diverse genres, like world music, trip hop, electronica (someone still remember Kraftwerk's "Trans Europa Express"?), and stuff that might easily qualify as "prog" (yes, no kidding). Favorite track: Pride of Africa.
