about

Bygone Era
Gathering at the Cathedral in St. Paul, MN, all of the participants were dressed in costumes. While waiting in the porta potty line before the race, a few witches noted the dinosaurs behind them. Looking up from under a bright yellow foam hair wig that reached high in the air, I saw them too. Batman to my left and batman to my left both postulating, “I am Batman”. As the dinosaurs approached the starting line for the horn to begin the race, I pondered the dichotomy of the dinosaurs and the Catholic Cathedral behind them and our thoughts about time long since past.
Could there be time without change? Is time an empty vessel that we fill with events and things? If time is linear, what does that line look like? We have no idea, but we are fascinated with the “A series” of time in which positions are ordered to their possession of properties like in the past, present, or future. Over time as one moves along there is a tendency to peer into the rear view mirror, which isn’t a bad thing as long as one doesn’t get stuck in the quicksand of past events. Move boldly forward to the end of your time.
